Case Study: Oak Gazebo Entertainment Space
West Midlands Oak started 2026 by putting the finishing touches on a stunning bespoke oak gazebo entertainment space for a very happy customer in Wolverhampton.
Thomas was looking for an open structure on his patio, which would offer shade to his outdoor entertainment space without completely blocking out the light in the living space at the back of the house.
‘From looking around online, it was clear that what I wanted didn’t really exist as a standard product, so I knew I needed to try and get something bespoke. There were lots of alumninium versions, but I didn’t want a metal structure, I wanted a softer looking finish that would blend in with the garden around it and compliment the back of the house.’
‘Originally, I thought about some sort of slatted roof that could be opened and closed so I could control the amount of light coming in, but once I spoke to Mark on the WMOak sales team and he pitched the idea of three skylights and a more robust roof, I knew that was actually the right solution.’
As part of the quotation process, Thomas was provided with a 3D Visual of the finished product so he could better imagine how it would look in his space.
‘I was blown away by the 3D rendering because it was exactly what I’d had in my head for about five years, without ever being able to realise it. And the cost that went with it was surprisingly reasonable, especially compared to some other quotes I’d had elsewhere for what I deemed to be ‘off the peg’ solutions. I had no hesitation about hiring West Midlands Oak Frame for the job and actually, looking back on it now, I don’t think the 3D mock-up did the finished product justice. It’s even better.’
The project wasn’t without its challenges as the ceiling needed the right finishes to ensure it would stand up to the elements, but also provide the clean, contemporary look that Thomas demanded. A white weatherboard was eventually specced with custom oak trims added to help tie everything together and add the exclamation point to a beautiful outdoor entertainment space.
‘On days like today, looking up at the blue sky through those skylights is really something special and I honestly don’t think I’d have got such a brilliant result without the efforts from everyone at West Midlands Oak Frame. Ben and his team really went the extra mile to ensure I was completely satisfied with the end result. I’m a demanding customer because I like everything just so, which certainly lead to some interesting conversations, but the guys really delivered and I think the gazebo, pergola, entertainment space or whatever you want to call it, really does speak for itself.’
‘As a family, we’re really going to get some enjoyment out of using this space and thanks to the roof hopefully not just on the warm, sunny days either. I can’t thank the guys at WM Oak Frame enough for their efforts and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.’
